New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions

It's that time of year again! Christmas is over and the new year is just a few days away. Time to make those New Years resolutions. To most, this is an exercise in futility. People make these resolutions with no intent on following through. I've been guilty of that. You probably have too. But this year could be different if you focus your energy and make your resolutions a priority. I've seen people succeed when they do that, it just takes the effort. Unfortunately the effort might be the hardest part.

You see, the effort piece is where most people fail. Breaking old habits is difficult, but if you are unhappy with your current situation, change it. We all have the power to change. It might be uncomfortable for a while, but in the end it will pay off. Nothing good ever comes easy. Use the struggle and pain of the challenge to find your strength.

A good friend once asked me, "What would you do if you could do it all the time?" That's a great question. People are happiest when they are free to do what they want to do with their lives. Dream big for yourself, you're the only one that will for you. If you preoccupy yourself with making your dreams come true, nothing can stand in your way. Large obstacles will become smaller. Difficulties will seem irrelevant. Problems will seem trivial.

2018 is a new year. A fresh start. You can do anything you put your mind to. But be warned, failures will occur. You won't succeed immediately. People will doubt you, or try and convince you of an easier path. The road to success is very long. It's rocky and littered with reasons why you should stop or turn back. But if you persist, you will find success. Whether it's taking the leap and signing that first travel contract, or deciding to keep traveling after some not so great contracts, the opportunities are there. It's just on you to decide that you are going to make it a success.

And while you are out there, be a good steward of the road. There are many others that are traveling (literally and figuratively) just like you are. Be a helping hand. Offer assistance when it seems like you might have none to offer. Good will and karma are real things. What you put out into the world will come back to you.

2018 is going to be awesome. Just how awesome is up to you.
