Job Description:

This Med Surg RN contract offers the chance to work on a 16-bed unit with an average census of around three patients at a time. You'll primarily be caring for geriatric patients, with some post-op orthopedic, general surgery, and vascular cases. The shift runs from 7 pm to 7 am, with a schedule of three 12-hour nights per week and the possibility of floating to the ER if needed. Your responsibilities will include managing telemetry patients, interpreting telemetry strips, titrating medications like Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Levophed, and providing support during your night shift with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4. Certifications like BLS and ACLS are required, with PALS being preferred. Experience with CAH facilities and familiarity with smaller EMR systems are a plus. Unique to this assignment is the dual role of Charge Nurse/ER nurse, with the flexibility to assist in the ER when available. You're expected to perform bedside reports and participate in orientation, including EMR training and unit-specific procedures.
