Job Description:

Join a busy acute care hospital as a Speech Language Pathologist and get ready for a role that combines clinical expertise with meaningful patient interaction. You'll work with medically complex patients recovering from oncology-related surgeries, primarily head and neck cancers, focusing on swallowing assessments, breathing, and cognitive rehabilitation. Your assessments will help determine swallowing safety, including performing modified barium swallow studies and interpreting results, which you'll communicate back to patients. The setting offers a unique opportunity to coordinate closely with dieticians and other disciplines to optimize patient recovery. Expect to see around 6-9 patients daily, with a schedule consisting of three 8-hour shifts per week, Tuesday through Thursday, with potential for an additional shift if needed. This assignment provides a chance to hone your clinical skills in a fast-paced environment while making a real difference in patient outcomes.
