Job Description:

Join a fast-paced adolescent psychiatric unit in Louisville for a 13-week contract working 12-hour night shifts. As a registered nurse, you'll provide specialized care for patients aged 14-18 experiencing mental health challenges such as suicidal thoughts, self-injury, bipolar disorder, ODD, and aggression. The role involves managing a unit with approximately 23 beds, a typical census that varies, and a patient load of around 2 patients per RN. Your responsibilities include de-escalation, crisis intervention, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team that includes mental health technicians, therapists, case managers, and security. You'll use Cerner electronic health records and Omnicell medication dispensing systems, and you'll work in a facility equipped with restraint beds, chairs, and seclusion rooms. The environment is structured yet supportive, with unit orientation scheduled over three 12-hour shifts and a comprehensive training on crisis intervention. This assignment offers an engaging experience in a specialized behavioral health setting, focusing on adolescent care with a dedicated team to support your efforts.
