Job Description:

Join a fast-paced PCU/Oncology and MedSurg team as a Registered Nurse supporting adults across oncology-focused care experiences. This contract is built around 12-hour night shifts with a mix of unit needs, including PCU and MedSurg floating at the same level of care. You’ll work a schedule of every other weekend, with self-scheduling, and focus on hourly rounding while partnering with charge nurse support and interdisciplinary resources (PT/OT, RN case manager, social work, educator, and dietitian).

To set you up for success, orientation includes two days of onboarding and a Friday pass/fail exam during orientation. The skills portion is an open-book exam based on what you learn, with an expectation of a 90% or higher to pass. Chemotherapy certification is required, and oncology/PCU experience is preferred (minimum 1 year experience required for the charge). You may encounter common titratable drips such as insulin occasionally and cardizem, along with chemotherapy and medications including heparin and protonix.

Required credentials include BLS and ACLS, plus ONS/ONCC. Additional competencies include ventilator experience, hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000), and ICP monitoring (trainable real-time). This unit uses EPIC and Alaris IV pumps.

Please note: artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract. Chemo certification and driver’s license submission are required; a 50-mile radius rule applies, and candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity).

Expect cool, often crisp conditions with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Winds can pick up at times, and occasional light precipitation is possible. Mornings and evenings typically feel noticeably colder than midday.
