Job Description:

Step into a fast-paced Emergency Room environment as a Registered Nurse on a travel contract in Shreveport, Louisiana. You’ll care for patients spanning pediatrics through geriatrics, with a focus on a wide range of conditions—from chest pain and stroke center cases to complex presentations involving cardiac concerns, diabetes/DKA, dialysis and renal failure, CHF/ESRD, infectious disease, cancer, LVAD, and multi-system trauma.

This assignment runs on 12-hour mids (36 hours per week) and follows a structured weekend rotation (every other weekend). Scheduling uses a 4 days one week and 3 days the next week, with additional flexibility for specific 3/2 or 5/2 rotation patterns as needed. Expect EMR charting in Meditech Expanse and medication dispensing via Pyxis, with IV pump support using Alaris.

Your day-to-day will include hands-on ED skills such as NGT tube insertion, IV starts, chest tube management, defibrillation, and splinting, plus strong comfort with Stroke/NIHSS workflow and ICU gtt management. You’ll also complete an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Team support includes charge/unit leadership, unit clerk, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, PICC team support, and RT/radiology available in the ED 24/7.
