Job Description:
Join a specialized ICU stepdown unit in Winston-Salem, where you'll engage in high-stakes patient monitoring and management during night shifts. This 13-week contract offers the opportunity to work with patients experiencing respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, and post-surgical recovery. You'll handle arterial lines, titrate vasoactive drips, and recognize dysrhythmias—all in a setting that runs more like an ICU than a typical stepdown. Adept use of telemetry, IV protocols, and airway management is essential. The role is perfect for experienced ICU nurses who thrive under pressure and enjoy applying their technical skills in a fast-paced environment. As part of this team, you'll support critical patients with precision and confidence, ensuring safe and effective care in a challenging but rewarding setting.
Weather:
The climate around this area tends to be mild and comfortable, with warm summers and cool, crisp fall and spring days that make outdoor activities enjoyable. The weather usually allows for pleasant evenings and moderate temperature fluctuations throughout the year.
Fun Things To Do:
- City Park Exploration: Enjoy scenic walking trails, gardens, and lakes for a relaxing day outdoors.
- Historic District Tour: Discover local history and architecture with a self-guided walk through downtown Winston-Salem.
- Winston Cup Museum: Dive into the history of NASCAR racing with engaging exhibits and memorabilia.
- Save Our Stream Day Trip: Visit nearby Nature Preserve for birdwatching, kayaking, and picnicking in a natural setting.
- Blenheim Vineyards (Day trip): Spend a day wine tasting and exploring picturesque vineyards just outside the city.
Job Specifics:
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
Duration: 13 weeks, with options for 36 or 48-hour weeks

The unit uses Pyxis and Epic systems, and you'll undergo hospital orientation during your first week.
