Job Description:

This surgical technologist role supports a busy cardiovascular operating room in Bangor, Maine. The assignment begins with a start date on 10/27 and involves working 10-hour days for a total of 13 weeks. You will assist during high-acuity cardiac cases such as CABG, AVR, MVR, and ascending aortic repairs, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff. The environment requires familiarity with CVOR procedures and comfort wearing lead protection. Expect to participate in approximately two cases per day, with overall activity involving a variety of cardiovascular surgeries. The position involves a mix of scrub duties, room turnover support, and collaboration with a skilled team, including CRNAs, anesthesia techs, and OR educators. Your role is essential in ensuring efficient case flow and maintaining a sterile environment in a facility with 411 licensed beds and a Level II trauma designation. Scrub attire and parking are provided onsite. The work schedule includes a four-week cycle, with typical shifts scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., no weekend work unless assigned, and minimal holiday expectations. Orientation will consist of two days shadowing a preceptor. This position offers an engaging opportunity to support advanced cardiac surgeries in a fast-paced, well-equipped hospital setting.
