The role requires labor and delivery plus medical-surgical and pediatric experience, with responsibilities that may include titrating Pitocin, monitoring fetal and cardiac rhythms, and caring for patients with preterm labor, hyperbilirubinemia, and postpartum needs. Nurses rotate between day and night shifts every three weeks and may float to medical-surgical/pediatric care when obstetric volume is low. The assignment includes a rotating weekend and holiday schedule, call with a one-hour response requirement, and one 12-hour unit-specific orientation shift.
