Job Description:

This labor nurse role offers an opportunity to work in a rural setting with a focus on maternal and neonatal care. The position is based at a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in Port Lavaca, Texas, where you'll handle a variety of obstetric duties in a two-person labor and delivery team. Expect to perform assessments, monitor fetal heart rates with EFM, and support both mothers and newborns through approximately 15-20 deliveries each month. The setting provides a chance to experience a close-knit community environment, with the added adventure of working in an area that attracts transient populations due to local construction and tourism. Housing options may be limited due to ongoing development, so RV living could be a practical choice. The EMR used is OBIX, and your shift will be 12 hours overnight, spanning across 14 weeks with a commitment of 36 hours per week, allowing for a true immersion into rural healthcare delivery.
