Job Description:

Step into a fast-paced surgical unit in Quincy, Illinois, where you'll play a vital role in caring for patients recovering from various procedures such as neuro, orthopedic, and abdominal surgeries. This 13-week contract offers 12-hour night shifts, giving you the chance to experience the unique rhythm of overnight healthcare. Your responsibilities include managing post-op patients with conditions like joint replacements, hernias, and sepsis, utilizing skills in PCA pump management, TPN, Lipids, and narcotic administration. The role involves interpreting telemonitor strips (brand-specific monitors), assisting with ventilator support, and collaborating within a primary care nursing model. You'll work alongside virtual admission nurses and support staff, including nurse aides and equipment specialists, ensuring patient stability throughout your shift. This assignment provides a real-world glimpse into a busy inpatient surgical environment with a focus on surgical recovery and complex patient monitoring.
