Job Description:

Join a bustling Short Term Acute Care hospital as an Ortho Registered Nurse on the night shift. In this role, you'll manage a diverse patient caseload, including cardiac patients with conditions like acute MI, unstable angina, CHF, and arrhythmias, as well as surgical patients recovering from CVA and other procedures. Your responsibilities will include performing tasks such as cardioversion, TEE, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube insertion, central line placement, and paracentesis, with some experience preferred but not required. You'll work in a fast-paced environment with a typical patient ratio of 5:1, which can flex to 6-7:1 in staffing shortages, where you'll be responsible for your patients and some of their LPNs. Expect to be part of a team that often utilizes drips like heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and nitro, requiring a working proficiency. This assignment offers a unique chance to experience the rhythms of cardiac and orthopedic care during night hours, all within a level IV trauma center that functions as a major teaching hospital. Orientation sessions are held biweekly, and two years of RN experience is required. The schedule involves a 48-hour weekly commitment over a 13-week period, with every other weekend required.
