Job Description:

Join this Intensive Care Unit (ICU) contract in Alton, Illinois, where you'll work as a vital member of the nursing team managing 12 beds with a focus on critically ill patients such as those with CHF, COPD, Sepsis, MI, DKA, and COVID. Your role involves titrating common ICU drips like paralytics, sedatives, and medications like Cardizem and Amio, ensuring optimal patient stability. You'll work night shifts of 12 hours, providing dedicated care during a scheduled 36 hours per week over a span of 13 weeks. This assignment offers the chance to deepen your ICU expertise in a setting supported by a hospitalist in-house 22/7 and an intensivist available by phone around the clock. The environment emphasizes autonomous patient management within a team that values expertise and professionalism, with a dress code of navy blue scrubs. Expect to collaborate closely with Nurse Aids and Tele/Monitor Techs, interpret cardiac rhythms, and troubleshoot advanced respiratory equipment. Orientation is comprehensive, beginning online and moving to in-unit training, ensuring you're fully prepared to excel in this critical care role.
