Job Description:

This contract position involves providing specialized nursing care on a med/surg unit in Oklahoma City. You will be responsible for managing a variety of surgical patients, including those with drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, and other post-operative needs. Expect to assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, monitor physiological data, and administer medications, including IV infusions and blood products. The role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you’ll interact closely with patients and their families, explaining procedures and care plans in a straightforward manner. Experience in acute care surgical floors with post-surgical patient management is essential, and familiarity with ENT or transplant cases is a plus. You’ll care for patients in a setting with patient ratios of 5:1 or 3:1, including some step-down care for more complex cases. This is a night shift role with 12-hour shifts, providing a chance to hone your surgical nursing skills while working in a collaborative team environment.
