Job Description:

This contract position is for a registered nurse ready to take on 12-hour day shifts in a busy hospital setting located in Weirton, West Virginia. The role involves caring for adult patients with conditions such as pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls or weakness. You’ll be primarily responsible for monitoring vital signs, performing blood glucose checks, reading EKGs, and applying heart monitors. While RN-specific tasks like titrating certain drips (excluding cardiac) are part of the job, respiratory therapy equipment like BiPaps and ventilators are managed by RTs, with minimal RN involvement beyond monitoring. The unit functions with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5-7 during the day and typically has charge nurses on each shift. Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work well with a team are essential as you may be floated to different units and assist with various patient care activities on the floor. The assignment offers a chance to experience a fast-paced hospital environment with a focus on adult acute care, providing opportunities for professional growth along the way.
