Job Description:

Join a surgical inpatient unit in Quincy, Illinois, where you'll be part of the team caring for patients recovering from neuro, abdominal, joint replacement, and other complex surgeries. This 3rd-floor unit with 48 beds across two buildings operates primarily during 12-hour night shifts, offering a challenging yet rewarding environment for experienced nurses. You'll manage a mix of admits and discharges, utilizing primary care nursing models, and supporting a variety of procedures such as joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and abdominal operations. Your expertise with total joints, PCA pumps, TPN, Lipids, and narcotic management will be essential. Expect a fast-paced setting with heavy patient loads, including potentially 8 to 12 surgical admits daily. The role provides an opportunity to refine your skills in a structured unit with virtual admission and discharge support, while maintaining independence in patient assessments and strip interpretation.
