Job Description:

Join UVA’s step-down cardiac and thoracic surgery recovery unit as a dedicated registered nurse on a 12-hour night shift. In this role, you will care for patients recovering from complex procedures such as CABG, valve repairs, lung resections, and transplants. The unit features a mix of acute care and intermediate monitoring, with a patient load that varies between 3 and 5 patients per nurse, depending on care needs. Expect to work in a 28-bed unit that balances advanced monitoring with a manageable patient-to-nurse ratio—perfect for nurses who enjoy a detailed, focused approach to patient recovery. This assignment offers the opportunity to work every other weekend with flexible hours within a 13-week contract, providing a chance to experience a critical care environment that blends specialty surgical recovery with routine nursing skills.
