Job Description:

Join our Respiratory Therapy team for a travel contract in St. Louis, Missouri at a short-term acute care teaching hospital environment. In this role, you will work as an RRT supporting respiratory and neuro diagnostics, including ICU and floor assignments across the hospital campus. The schedule is 12-hour nights, with three 12-hour shifts per week (every third-weekend rotation), plus the need to be available for some holidays.

You’ll manage airway care and ventilator workflows for both acute and chronic respiratory needs, including mechanical ventilation support, troubleshooting, weaning from mechanical ventilation, and ABG interpretation. You’ll also perform and support airway management devices and suctioning procedures, including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy care/suctioning, oral and nasal airway placement, and sputum specimen collection. Respiratory medication administration and aerosol/neb treatments are part of the day-to-day routine (examples include albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, inhaled steroids, racemic epinephrine, and inhaled Flolan), along with medication delivery via common inhalation systems and nebulizers.

This teaching hospital setting occasionally includes precepting respiratory therapy students. Candidates should be comfortable walking longer distances due to the size of the campus. Expect a mix of mild days and cool evenings, with occasional rain and breezy conditions. Humidity can fluctuate, so layering is helpful for time spent traveling between shifts and locations.
