Job Description:

Step into fast-paced emergency care as an Emergency Department travel professional at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Downers Grove, Illinois. This contract is built around 12-hour night shifts where you’ll handle a high-acuity mix of cases including sepsis, DKA, MI, stroke, IVDA, ETOH-related concerns, ortho-trauma, and all types of trauma. Expect a patient population that is predominantly 65+ with multiple comorbidities, along with a heavy psych and addiction presence—so your night will be a blend of rapid assessment, critical thinking, and steady bedside action.

You’ll work in a department with 28 beds (including hallway and triage rooms) and an emergency volume of about 120 visits per day. Nights emphasize readiness for complex workflows such as managing critical care drips, comfort with vent management, handling TPA administration and conscious sedation, and assisting with procedures like splinting. Core skills include NGT placement, IV starts, foley placement, and wound care, along with stroke and cardiac rhythm experience. EPIC is required, with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing in place to support your workflow.

A minimum of 2 years of ER experience is required, with Level I Trauma experience preferred. First-time travelers are welcome. This role is supported by ER techs, 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage, and EPIC-driven documentation—making each night a full-scope, hands-on shift where you’ll feel the pace from check-in to wrap-up. (And yes—nights move quickly.)
