Job Description:
Join our team for a 13-week travel contract as an OB RN & M/S Float at a Critical Access Hospital in West Union, Iowa. This role offers a balanced mix of labor and delivery, postpartum, and med/surg duties, requiring flexibility to float between units, including high-volume labor and skillful management of both low-risk and emergent cases. The 12-hour day shifts (5a-5p) provide ample time to immerse yourself in the unique rural healthcare environment, working independently while also contributing to a cohesive team. To thrive here, you'll need at least two years of experience in your specialty, along with certification in ACLS, NRP, and intermediate fetal monitoring. Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, with on-call availability in case of emergencies
Unit Sizes: Med/Surg (20 beds), OB (4 LDRP, 1 postpartum/C-section prep), total of 25 beds
Average Census: Med/Surg 8-10, OB 85-90 deliveries annually
Nurse to Patient Ratios: OB (1:1 active labor, 1:2 early labor, 1:3 postpartum), Med/Surg (up to 1:5, typical 1:3-4)
