Job Description:

Join a reputable hospital in Fort Wayne for a 22-week contract working 12-hour night shifts in Medical Surgical nursing. In this role, you'll provide direct patient care to a diverse adult population, managing conditions such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, sepsis, neurological injuries, and mental health disorders. Expect to perform assessments, care planning, and use a variety of equipment including IV pumps, telemetry monitors, and wound vacs. Your day-to-day will include procedures like administering IV therapy, managing insulin and heparin drips, and documenting via Epic electronic records. The setting offers a chance to hone your skills in a fast-paced, large hospital environment with patient ratios typically ranging from 1:5 to 1:6. Candidates must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience and a minimum of 1 year at a hospital with 450+ beds. A valid IN license or compact license as of 7/1/20, BLS certification through AHA, and experience in MedSurg units are required. The scheduled shifts are 36 hours per week, with three weekends in a four-week period. Floating to other medical units is expected, and supplemental orientation is provided, including hospital and Epic training, along with general nursing education. This assignment provides a chance to advance your skills while working in a supportive environment.
