Job Description:

This travel assignment places you in a Medical Center setting in Morgantown, West Virginia, working scheduled 12-hour night shifts. As a Stepdown RN, you will focus on caring for post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients, requiring strong MedSurg Stepdown experience. Your responsibilities include titrating IV drips like Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix by following MD orders, interpreting EKG strips, and assessing patient rhythms every four hours or more often if medication titration demands. Centralized telemetry monitors are available to support your assessments, along with monitors in patient rooms. This role involves collaboration with a charge nurse and house supervisors, with a patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4, depending on the assignment. The unit does not use vents but does utilize Bipap and Tracheostomy management. Expect to work in an environment that requires quick thinking and technical skill, with a dress code of royal blue scrubs. You will rotate through three shifts of unit orientation to familiarize yourself with protocols and unit-specific procedures. Working holidays, occasional weekend shifts, and minimal floating are part of this contract, providing an opportunity to experience a diverse work setting.
