Job Description:

This travel assignment places you in an intensive care environment focused on complex neuro, trauma, and cardiovascular cases. You'll work in a 20-bed ICU with a typical staffing ratio of 2:1, but be prepared for 1:1 circumstances with higher acuity patients. Your hands-on experience will include managing patients with herniating brains, brain drains, traction for ortho trauma, and advanced cardiovascular devices like balloon pumps and Impellas. You'll also care for post-op open-heart CABG patients and handle open abdominal wounds that may require bedside re-opening. Additionally, you'll support the ECMO program scheduled to start soon, providing opportunities to work with specialized equipment and procedures.

This role is tailored for those with ICU or SICU experience in level 1-2 trauma centers, especially if you've managed renal patients requiring CRRT at the bedside. The environment expects familiarity with a variety of advanced medical devices beyond standard ICU skills. The unit sometimes admits medical ICU patients due to overflow, adding to the diversity of cases you'll encounter. You'll be working 12-hour night shifts over a 17-week period, delivering about 48 hours weekly. Expect a demanding but rewarding experience in a hospital committed to handling high-acuity, complex cases.
