Job Description:

This 11-week travel assignment places you in a Med Surg unit in Norfolk, Nebraska, working 12-hour night shifts. You will be caring for a diverse patient population, including older teens and adults, with conditions such as pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and post-surgical patients like ortho, general surgery, spinal, and urology cases. Your role involves managing beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 on days and nights, with the flexibility to handle 6 patients during your shift. Required certifications include BLS, and experience with EPIC documentation and titrating drips like Heparin, Bumex, and Lasix is necessary. You'll work closely with respiratory support teams, managing Trachs, Cpap, Bipap, and High Flow devices when needed. The role emphasizes teamwork, bedside shift reporting, proactive patient rounding, and adaptability, especially for first-time travelers. Floating to IMCU for med-surg assignments may be required, and a nurse aide assists with vital signs and accuchecks.
