Job Description:

Step into a Med Surg Intermediate/PCU travel nursing role in Wausau, WI, where each shift moves at a brisk, purpose-driven pace. You’ll work 12-hour nights on a unit built for ventilator and trach care, with a steady mix of intermediate acuity cases including sepsis, trauma-related needs, alcohol detox, GI bleeds, and patients requiring chest tubes, TBI support, stroke management, and ostomy care. Expect heavy telemetry monitoring and active work with insulin drips and stable vent/weaning workflows.

This 13-week assignment includes every other weekend and every other holiday coverage. Guaranteed 36 hours per week are part of the contract, with the unit sometimes able to low-census in shorter 4-hour increments—this may impact how many hours you work on specific days, though it is not treated as on-call. Float requirements apply as needed across AWH all inpatient units, typically to higher-acuity areas. Charting is preferably in EPIC.

To thrive here, you’ll bring 2+ years of Stepdown/Intermediate/PCU experience (ICU experience preferred), ventilator/trach experience required, and at least 1 prior travel experience. You’ll also hold a Wisconsin RN license and maintain BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC).
