Job Description:

Step into a high-turnover Observation Unit as a healthcare professional supporting fast-moving admissions and discharges in Albany, Georgia. This role is built around 12-hour nights, where you’ll take the lead on key on-unit tasks including obtaining notes and performing your own EKGs and lab draws. You’ll work within a unit that’s actively monitored with heavy telemetry (central monitoring), and you’ll manage common observation workflows using titratable and set-rate drips, including heparin.

Scheduling is weekend-forward with every other weekend required, and holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff. The unit is strict about travel distance—please note the 75-mile radius rule applies—and successful candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant experience plus 1 travel assignment. Occasionally, the charge nurse may take an assignment.

For one traveler, it’s not just nights—it’s learning how to move quickly, document efficiently, and keep the telemetry rhythm steady as patients are discharged (up to 16/day) and refilled.

Weather:

Expect warm, generally humid conditions with a mix of sunny skies and occasional rain. Nights can feel comfortably mild, making for pleasant time outdoors between shifts.

Fun Things To Do:

  • AmericasMart & Albany Antique Mall (shopping and local browsing)
  • Riverfront walking areas along the Flint River (easy strolls and photos)
  • Marion P. Thomas Park (day outdoors and recreation)
  • Day trip: Callaway Gardens (gardens and family-friendly attractions)
  • Day trip: Columbus Riverwalk in Columbus, GA (waterfront scenery and dining)
