Job Description:

Take your observation unit experience on the road with a travel contract supporting clinical evaluation in a fast-paced, teaching-hospital setting. This role is for an experienced Med/Surg Observation MS RN who can hit the ground running with strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking.

You’ll work 12-hour day shifts (6:30–7) with float expectations based on facility needs. Start at the Deaconess Gateway Clinical Interview location, with possible cross-campus float within the skillset across the Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (and potentially Deaconess Henderson (KY) if needed). Mid-shift float can occur within the same campus; cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible with a 2-hour notice.

Day-to-day work includes charting in Epic (recent experience required, plus a checkoff class), PIV insertion, and managing stability-focused drips such as heparin, lasix, and protonix. Patient presentations commonly include chest pain, abdominal pain, flank pain, CVA/TIA, and generalized weakness (including patients awaiting placement).

You’ll be joining a team supported by strong LPN and CNA partners, with occasional teaching responsibilities such as precepting students and new hires. Weekend requirements are structured (three weekends out of every six-week schedule) and holidays follow an every-other pattern.

Weather:

Expect a mix of mild days and cooler evenings with occasional humidity and changing cloud cover. Conditions are generally comfortable for outdoor plans, with the possibility of brief rain showers.
