Job Description:

Join a travel healthcare contract at a short stay intermediate unit in Wausau, Wisconsin, where your work centers on fast-paced clinical interview services and float coverage across inpatient units as needed. This assignment typically involves supporting observation-style workflows and short admissions with an average stay of up to 48 hours, along with a steady mix of admissions and discharges. You’ll also be expected to float to IMC and CTU units when requested, making flexibility and readiness essential throughout the 12-hour night shift.

Shift structure is designed for consistency—12 hour nights with guaranteed set weekly hours of 48 (with the noted low census flexibility). Expect occasional low census periods that may reduce the number of hours worked during specific shifts in 4-hour increments (example: 4 or 8 hours), which is not considered on-call. Weekend and holiday rotation follows an every-other schedule, giving you a predictable rhythm while still keeping the work varied.

Bring at least 3 years of relevant experience, be comfortable reading and interpreting strips, and have Epic charting experience. Unit needs commonly include care for conditions such as COPD, dehydration, anemia, cellulitis, and pre/post-op Urology and GI, including drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin.

Weather:

Expect crisp, cool conditions with a mix of cloudy days and periodic sunshine. Nights can feel especially cold, so plan for layers and changing weather throughout the day.
