Job Description:

Take your cardiac ICU experience on the road with a travel contract in Wausau, Wisconsin—focused on caring for critically ill cardiac patients in a 12-bed Cardiac ICU. This 13-week assignment runs 12-hour nights (1900–0730), with 36 hours per week guaranteed.

You’ll float as needed to inpatient units, typically within the critical care and acute care cluster. The work is hands-on and fast-moving: post-op hearts, AMI, cardiogenic shock, frequent cardioversions, and procedures where you’ll place and discontinue lines in the unit. Expect advanced support needs such as CRRT (with typical staffing support) and Impella (with typical staffing support).

This role is an opportunity to bring your expertise with Swan/Gem and advanced cardiac skills—Swans and IABP capabilities are required, along with post-op heart experience. Epic charting experience is preferred. CCRN is welcome but not required. Keep things steady through change, manage independently, and stay on top of time-sensitive tasks—without losing your rhythm.

Weather:

Expect cool, crisp days and cooler nights, with the potential for light precipitation and changing cloud cover. It’s a great time for layered clothing and getting out between shifts.

Radius Rule: Contractors must be outside a 50 mile radius of Aspirus Wausau
Float: Float to all inpatient units as needed (typically critical care and acute care cluster)
Call Back: Picking up call permitted, not required (1-hour response time if picking up call)
Certifications: WI RN License, BLS, and ACLS (CCRN preferred)
Minimum Experience: 2 years with cardiac experience; Swan/IABP skills; post-op hearts required
Charting: Epic preferred
