Job Description:

Step into a Level I trauma operating room as an Operating Room Registered Nurse supporting high-acuity surgical service lines at an acute care hospital. This travel contract offers 5x8 night shifts (22:45–07:15) and an OR-focused practice built around complex cases and careful procedural standards. You’ll work Monday through Friday with 1 weekend shift per month, and you may be placed on-call about 1 time per week (typically less frequent than the requirement states). While floating is rare, you’ll be expected to work within your scope to meet facility needs when required.

This position is a great fit for an OR RN who has hands-on operating room experience, including level I trauma exposure and a mix of general, ortho, neuro, plastics, urology, and trauma cases. Key experience areas include laparoscopic-assisted procedures, laparoscopic-assisted bariatric cases, and a wide range of specialties such as cervical fusion, craniotomy, lumbar fusion, arthroscopy, closed and open reduction of fractures, free flap microvascular work, organ donation workflows, cystoscopy and nephrectomy/prostatectomy experience, and trauma management including code response and emergency fire safety readiness.

Certifications required: BLS. Cerner experience is preferred. Must have an active Illinois license in hand or be in the application process, and first-timers are not accepted. Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility.

Weather:

Expect a mix of cool evenings and mild daytime conditions, with occasional breezy days and periodic rain. Nights can feel brisk, especially around the overnight hours.
