Job Description:

This 13-week contract opportunity places you on a staffed inpatient stepdown/PCU unit featuring a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. You'll be working with a diverse patient population, including cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizure management, and ETOH protocols, among others. The role emphasizes cardiac monitoring and titratable drips such as cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, and dobutamine, requiring at least 2 years of relevant stepdown or PCU experience. Your responsibilities will include vital signs, ADLs, patient repositioning, blood sugar monitoring, and responding to call lights, all while collaborating with a hospitalist and intensivist available 24/7. You will troubleshoot respiratory equipment like vents and BiPaps, read telemonitors, and interpret rhythm strips. The unit maintains a ratio of 1 nurse to 4-6 patients depending on acuity, with charge nurses overseeing shifts but generally not taking patient assignments. Nurses work alongside patient care techs and are expected to follow a navy blue dress code. Orientation includes 2 days with general training and 1 day with a preceptor, and there are opportunities to float to different inpatient units as needed. This role offers a weekly gross pay of approximately $2,057.56 and a weekly commitment of 36 hours.
