Job Description
Join a 13-week travel assignment as a Pediatric Behavioral Health Registered Nurse in an acute psychiatric crisis unit serving children and adolescents ages 4–17. You will support patients experiencing conditions such as depression, disruptive behavior, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, psychosis, mania, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and self-injurious behaviors. The role may also involve addressing chronic medical needs, including diabetes, epilepsy, refeeding, cast care, and wound care.
This overnight position emphasizes therapeutic communication, prevention, and de-escalation. Nurses must be comfortable initiating physical holds, mechanical restraints, and seclusion when clinically indicated for safety. Pediatric Mental Health Specialists support supervision and milieu programming, while RNs provide primary nursing care and may assist with safety checks, resource coverage, or low-stimulation support. Pediatric psychiatric experience is preferred, though the manager may consider nurses with limited pediatric or behavioral health backgrounds. BLS and PALS are required.
Weather
Seattle generally offers cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and occasional rain during this time of year. Comfortable layers and a dependable rain jacket are useful for exploring the city and surrounding areas.
