Job Description:

Step into a rewarding oncology unit where you will focus on caring for adult patients on the 7th floor and outpatient areas. This 17-week travel assignment involves working 12-hour night shifts, providing specialized nursing support to patients with conditions such as thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, and other hematology-related concerns. Your role will include managing a unit with approximately 29 beds, working alongside a dedicated team with a typical ratio of 1 nurse to 5 or 6 patients. You’ll be expected to demonstrate at least two years of experience in the specialty, with previous travel experience preferred. Certification requirements include BLS, with NIHSS and ONS certifications preferred for chemo administration. During each shift, you may also coordinate with nurse aides and handle patient monitoring via central telemetry. Expect to receive a comprehensive three-day floor-specific orientation to familiarize yourself with procedures and unit protocols. This assignment offers a chance to hone your oncology skills while working within a tight-knit team in a fast-paced environment that occasionally requires floating to medical acute care.
