Job Description:

This 13-week travel nursing opportunity in Shreveport, LA, places you in a 30-bed telemetry unit focused on Urology post-operative care and general med-surg overflow. You'll be working 12-hour night shifts, providing specialized care for patients recovering from robotic and open prostatectomies, nephrectomies, and other urologic procedures. The role involves managing complex post-op patients, including those with sepsis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, and COVID. Expect to support smaller patient loads with ratios of 1:5-6 for RNs, and up to 1:10 at peak census. Your responsibilities will encompass wound management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and assessment of JP drains, wound vacs, and hemodialysis catheters, among other skills. The assignment emphasizes educational growth in a fast-evolving urology focus, with comprehensive onboarding including a 2-day hospital orientation and unit-specific training. No call requirements are involved, but participation in holiday rotations and a schedule of every other weekend work are included.
