Job Description:

Provide holiday coverage as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse in Battle Creek, Michigan. This role supports a busy ER overflow and Med Surg workflow with rapid admissions and discharges—so you’ll be constantly reassessing readiness and coordinating the next steps of care as patients move through the unit. Night shifts run three 12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), with weekend coverage every other weekend.

You’ll also have the opportunity to float to other Med Surg units as staffing needs change, typically about once per week. The Med Surg units see a mix of medical patients, with usual night staffing around 1:5–6 (ratios may flex higher), and nursing staff are paired with LPN support when needed. Travel experience is highly preferred, though additional permanent experience may be considered in lieu of travel.

Schedule flexibility is required for holidays, including allowing time-off (RTO) requests during holidays to remain flexible based on staffing demands. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved at this time.

Expect a mix of cool temperatures and changing conditions, with crisp air and occasional breezy days. Even when it’s clear, evenings can feel noticeably colder, so layering is ideal.
