Job Description:

Join a fast-paced oncology unit on the seventh floor, where you'll be providing specialized care to patients undergoing treatments like chemotherapy and managing complex hematology cases. This 75-mile radius from your driver's license point ensures you're close enough to your local community, with staff working 12-hour day shifts for a 17-week contract. You will be responsible for managing acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and other related conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on delivering attentive, efficient care. Charge nurses coordinate staffing, and you'll work alongside healthcare professionals dedicated to supporting patients through challenging phases of their treatment journey. Outpatient patients may arrive for continuation of treatment, requiring flexibility in your approach. Your role emphasizes teamwork, precise documentation in Meditech EMR, and adherence to safety and certification requirements—including BLS and preferred NIHSS or ONS certifications for chemo care. Every other weekend you'll be on duty, with holiday rotation ensuring equitable staffing. Expect to work in a community that values compassion and professionalism, with a team that appreciates your expertise in oncology nursing. The scrub color for your shifts will be Caribbean Blue, and floating to medical acute areas is rare, but possible. Orientation lasts three days, preparing you for an impactful assignment in a specialized environment.
