Job Description:

Step into a Med Surg Intermediate Care contract in Wausau, Wisconsin, supporting a fast-paced unit where stability and readiness matter. This role centers on caring for patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and ventilator/trach support, with frequent tele monitoring and a case mix that may include sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, TBI, ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, colostomy/ileostomy needs, chest tubes, and stroke.

You’ll work 12-hour nights as part of a guaranteed 36 hours per week schedule, with every other weekend and every other holiday. The team also uses float assignments as needed across inpatient units—often to higher-acuity areas—so adaptability is key. Expect a unit rhythm that can shift to low census in 4-hour increments (up to 4 or 8 hours of the shift), and note that this low census time is not considered on-call.
