Job Description:

Step into an Emergency Department Observation role in Salem, Massachusetts, as an RN focused on overnight care within a dedicated observation unit. This contract is designed for experienced ED nurses who can keep up with fast-moving decision points while working the 12-hour night shift schedule. You’ll manage adult patients in a 16-bed observation setting, supporting day-to-day operations using Epic and related charting systems.

What makes this assignment unique: the rhythm of ED observation work on nights, the expectation to read telemetry strips, and the weekly commitment built around 12-hour night shifts with a weekend (EOW) focus at 36 hours per week. Expect rotating coverage needs, possible floating, and the variety that comes with assessment, documentation, IV support, phlebotomy, EKG, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, splinting, critical thinking, and patient education.

If you bring 2+ years of experience in one location and 2 years as a traveler, plus active MA RN licensure and AHA ACLS and PALS, you’ll be set up to thrive in this role.

Weather:

Expect cool, crisp conditions with a mix of cloudy skies and brighter afternoons. Coastal breezes can make evenings feel especially chilly, so layers come in handy.
