Job Description:

Join a Level I trauma center as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse on 4x12-hour night shifts, working a geriatric trauma-focused surgical unit. This contract is built for an RN who enjoys fast-paced, procedure-driven work—caring for patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, ortho trauma, and complex trauma presentations including MVA/MVC and abuse/violence victims. You’ll also support acute care surgery cases and a variety of conditions such as burns, wounds, appendicitis, hernia repairs, and fistulas.

Your nights will include hands-on experience with specialized equipment and workflow, including wound vacs, traction/external fixators, chest tubes with Emerson/Pleur-evac, peripheral nerve block catheters, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, surgical drains, isolation precautions, and wound care. The role also involves skills such as EKG interpretation/management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, starting IVs, insulin, PCA, spinals/trach-adjacent airway support as applicable, oral suctioning, and oxygen face masks/portable oxygen handling.

There’s no on-call requirement, and floating within scope may occur to meet facility needs. Bring your experience—this assignment emphasizes Level 1 trauma exposure and strong readiness to handle high-acuity surgical and trauma priorities with confidence.
