Job Description:

Join a fast-paced Observation Unit/Inpatient team in Wausau, Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse for a travel healthcare contract built around real-time admissions, discharges, and short stays. This assignment runs for 13 weeks with a 12-hour mids shift (11:00 AM–11:30 PM) and a consistent weekly commitment of 36 hours. You’ll float to other inpatient units as needed and help manage a variety of conditions seen in an observation setting, including CHF, COPD, dehydration, cellulitis, anemia, and pre-op needs. Expect common care activities for short stays averaging up to 48 hours, including managing orders and therapies such as cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Nitro), insulin, and heparin, as well as supporting patients with GI and urology-related needs.

The unit moves quickly—high admission and discharge volume means you’ll stay organized, adapt to changing priorities, and work smoothly with a team that maintains a collaborative rhythm across shifts. Charting is done in Epic, and you’ll need the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
