Job Description:

Join a travel nursing team as a Registered Nurse in a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Shreveport, LA. This 13-week contract offers night shifts with 12-hour hours, providing a steady rhythm and the opportunity to work closely with patients experiencing conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, and post-Heart Cath recovery. The role includes managing stroke unit overflow cases, including CVA/TIA with TPA administration and spinal surgical recoveries like ACDF and Laminectomy. Expect to work RN-to-patient ratios of 1:3, with support from a skilled team, including charge nurses, resource nurses, RTs, and hospitalists. The position requires specific certifications like BLS, ACLS, and NIH, and skills such as titratable drips, chest tube management, tracheostomies, and lumbar drains. Candidates must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. The schedule features a rotating weekend pattern, with mandatory 4- or 3-day workweeks, and holiday coverage. Uniforms include pewter scrubs with optional gray, white, or black T-shirts with WK monogram, gray or black jackets, and badges worn above the waist. Parking is free, and orientation includes hospital and unit-specific training.
