Job Description:

This 13-week travel contract places you in a MedSurg Pediatric Unit in Dickinson, ND, working 12-hour rotating shifts. You’ll handle a mix of adult and pediatric patients with conditions like UTI, pneumonia, and COPD, with patient ratios of 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night. Your responsibilities include managing electrolyte and medication infusions—excluding titration of hypertensive or hypotensive drugs—while collaborating with nurse aides and the pediatrician on call. The unit emphasizes communication, teamwork, and attention to detail, especially in documentation. Expect some troubleshooting with respiratory equipment like BiPAP and tele monitors, and note that the charge nurse also manages patient assignments. The environment supports your growth with orientation, and your role is central to providing coordinated care for various patient needs. For this assignment, you'll work an average of 36 hours weekly, with self-scheduling and some floating to ED/ICU as needed. A professional, approachable attitude will help you succeed in this collaborative setting.
