Job Description:

This CCU (Critical Care Unit) travel assignment in Carroll, Iowa, offers an engaging opportunity for experienced ICU nurses to work with patients requiring specialized cardiovascular and pulmonary care. You will be responsible for managing patients with diagnoses such as CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and DKA, including performing procedures like central line insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis (performed by providers). The role involves titrating drips like Cardizem, insulin, and norepinepi, and monitoring telemetry in a fast-paced environment. With a goal nurse/patient ratio of 1:2, flexing to 1:4 based on patient acuity and needs, this assignment demands clinical expertise, independence, and adaptability. You'll oversee a 6-bed set-up for CCU-level patients, with occasional responsibilities on the MedSurg Peds side, and coordinate care under the supervision of a charge nurse. This is a night shift position, running 12-hour hours, and lasting for 13 weeks, providing a great chance to immerse yourself in critical care while exploring a welcoming Iowa community.
