Job Description:

This 13-week travel contract in Norfolk, Nebraska, offers an engaging opportunity for registered nurses with at least one year of medical-surgical experience. You'll work in a 38-bed Med Surg unit, covering both days and nights shifts, with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio. The role involves managing a variety of patient diagnoses, including pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and surgical cases such as ortho, general, spinal, and urology procedures. The work emphasizes bedside shift reports, proactive patient rounding, and teamwork, especially helping with call lights and working closely with CNAs. Experience with EPIC documentation, titrating IV drips like Heparin, Bumex, and Lasix, and reading telemetry strips (or calling the cardiac tech) are essential. RNs should be comfortable with first-time traveler orientation and flexible to float to IMCU when needed. The unit operates 24/7 with respiratory therapists and cardiac tech support, and the nurses wear navy scrubs. The shift includes scheduled orientation and expectations of collaborative, proactive care in a fast-paced environment.
