Job Description:

This 13-week travel assignment places you on a stepdown/MedSurg unit in Morgantown, West Virginia, where you'll work 12-hour night shifts. The unit, currently under construction, will feature 29 beds, all equipped for step-down care with an expected opening in the first quarter of 2026. You'll be responsible for managing a diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses, handling up to six med-surg patients or three step-down patients, and titrating drips such as Heparin, insulin, and anti-hypertensives according to written orders. Familiarity with Epic electronic health records is required, and you'll benefit from a comprehensive orientation tailored to this unique setting. The unit is staffed with charge RNs and house supervisors available 24/7, with support staff including Clinical Associates (CAs) maintaining a 1:10 nurse-to-CAs ratio. Ventilators like CPAP, BiPAP, HiFlow, and vents in stepdown will be encountered, with settings adjusted in the ICU when necessary. RNs will not read telemetry strips but will monitor via Phillips telemetry equipment from a central remote surveillance center. This fast-paced environment offers an exciting challenge for both experienced and new nurses eager to step into a role supporting patient safety and smooth unit operations during night hours.
