Job Description:

Join a fast-paced CVU/Intermediate Care unit serving a strong mix of cardiac and vascular cases. In this travel role, you’ll support patients who require intermediate care and downgraded CVICU-level care, with the unit heavily aligned to thoracic services as well as EP, cath lab, and structural heart programming. Expect a steady flow of clinical needs including cardiac/vascular diagnoses such as CHF, atrial fibrillation with RVR, cath lab-supported cases, and CVA-related presentations.

Your shift pattern will be 12-hour nights, working with in-house hospitalist and intensivist coverage 24/7 and cardiology on call after hours. You’ll manage common titratable and set-rate drips used for blood pressure and rhythm support, including amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, and diltiazem. You’ll also be responsible for interpreting telemetry as assigned, and you’ll handle common respiratory equipment support such as BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula as needed. Orientation is tailored to your experience with 1–2 shifts on the unit.

Required qualifications include 1+ year of experience with this patient population and current BLS and ACLS. NIHSS is also required. During orientation, you’ll complete a pass/fail exam (Friday) and an open-book skills review; a 90% score is required to pass.

The unit operates with nurse/patient ratios that may be 1:4 or 1:3 for the first 24 hours for post-surgical patients. Artificial nails are prohibited; refusal to remove them will end the contract.

Location: Omaha, Nebraska (7500 Mercy Road), 12 hour nights, 13 weeks. Weekly commitment: 36.0 hours.
