Job Description:

Step into an Intermediate/Stepdown (PCU) Registered Nurse role in Rapid City, South Dakota—where your days are built around steady clinical flow across two floors (with 64 total beds). This contract is ideal for an RN who enjoys variety within a mixed acuity setting, including telemetry-monitored patients and opportunities to support post-surgical and neuro-focused cases such as CVA/TIA with neuro vascular interventions, seizures/epilepsy, brain aneurysm care, craniotomies/burr holes and shunts, spinal surgical procedures, plus a range of general medical diagnoses.

You’ll work a 12-hour day schedule (48 hours per week) and be part of a pod-based unit structure—8 patients per pod with 2 RNs and 1 Nurse Aide. You’ll also encounter cardiac strip interpretation and common stepdown technologies, including chest tube care, trach care (no fresh trach), NGT management, JP drains, and line management, along with frequent medication administration and occasional drip titration (with training when applicable). Epic experience is required, and new travelers can be considered if they have more than one year of experience.

A detail you’ll appreciate: orientation is structured with unit/department prep and preceptor shifts, plus ongoing support from charge and resource teams during the day. You may also be asked to precept students. (And yes—Rapid City is the kind of place that makes it hard to keep your weekends quiet.)
