Job Description:

Step into a Registered Nurse travel role in Telemetry within a brand new Medical Surgical/telemetry unit at a growing facility in Shreveport, Louisiana. This assignment combines fast-paced assessment work with consistent education opportunities—perfect for an RN who enjoys building experience on a newly established team while managing common telemetry and med-surg conditions.

You’ll work 12-hour days, rotating weekends every other, and complete a 2–4 day hospital orientation plus 2 days of unit orientation based on experience. Your day-to-day includes sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia, with occasional post-op overflow such as Total Joints (knees, hips, shoulders) and GI/abdominal surgeries. Charting is in Meditech Expanse, with IV pumps (Alaris) and medication dispensing through Pyxis.

To be successful, you’ll bring active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, plus at least 2 years of acute care RN experience for first-time travelers. You will also be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Expected skills include wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, and pain management. No call is required.

A unit with 18 beds and supportive resources like RT in-house, in-house hospitalist support for most patients, and available IV/VAT support (7a–3p for PICC placement) rounds out what makes this travel assignment unique—more learning, more building, and a clear structure from day one.
