Job Description:

Join a brand new Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit in Shreveport, Louisiana, as a Registered Nurse on a travel contract built for hands-on learning and growth. In this role, you’ll care for patients across a mix of medical diagnoses and post-operative overflow, including sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia, with occasional total joint and GI/abdominal surgery overflow. You’ll experience a true telemetry-focused workflow while using Meditech Expanse for charting and Alaris IV pumps with Pyxis medication dispensing.

The unit is newly established, so travelers can expect additional educational opportunities and structured orientation, including a 2–4 day hospital orientation and 2 days on the unit (with timing based on experience). Your day-to-day will include skills such as wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, and pain management. You’ll also work with strong unit support, including a typically free-floating charge nurse, in-house phlebotomy, RT support, and a hospitalist available for most patients.

To be considered, you must hold BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, and be prepared to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival.
