Job Description:

Work as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU at a 33-bed hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, supporting critically ill adult patients with conditions including trauma, cardiac concerns, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent and pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. This travel contract follows a 12-hour day schedule (0630-1830), with additional availability on the 1830-0630 shift as needed by unit scheduling.

You’ll use and monitor common ICU equipment, including vents and high-flow support, and perform required tasks related to titratable drips such as cardiac infusions, insulin, and sedation. You will also read/interpret/document monitor strips, with GE monitor equipment and tele oversight from the unit. Adult staffing typically runs at a 1:2-3 ratio, with nurse aides and Healthcare Support staffing available based on census to support the unit’s flow.

The assignment includes occasional floating to PCU and, less frequently, MedSurg while maintaining the typical unit ratios (1:4 or 1:5). Orientation includes 1 unit-specific orientation shift, plus an exam process during orientation (including a pass/fail and an open-book skills exam with a required score of 90% to pass).

Expect a mix of cool mornings and comfortable afternoons, with periods of wind and occasional light precipitation. Conditions can shift quickly, so being prepared for changing temperatures and brisk air is helpful.
